As is custom on this blog, after I make a cover and post it on YouTube, I share it here. This one is a bit special to me, and I’m not quite sure why: It’s a project I’ve been working on for a few months, so I guess that’s one of the reasons. I put a lot of effort into writing the lyrics, mixing it, and making sure the video was how I wanted it – I didn’t even shy away from asking for help to make a good video, shocking! And I feel like, just from having a more quality video, I’m getting more views and recognition for the cover, which is nice. I mean, I feel like a derp because I know that to be true already, but it’s nice to do so and see some results so…I’ll probably either do videos like this, with game/show/some sort of footage, or record myself singing (probably the first one, until I get over my nerves). For the first time, I feel like my channel is moving along to the path I want it to go, and I dunno I guess this cover sort of cements that in my mind for me and that’s why it’s so special. Plus, it’s a freaking gorgeous song! It’s up there with my favorite video game vocal themes, for sure: It’s got such a simple tone and melody, but just speaks so many volumes in its intensity and emotional impact. I really wanted to get that across in the translated lyrics, and I thought it was really funny when I went to look up the different endings of the game to make the video: The good ending of the game, and it’s footage, just captured the meaning of my lyrics so well, and it just made me super happy to see that my translation wasn’t super wonky haha. Like, the direct translation was a bit hard to work with, so I just tried to get the meaning of the song across in my translations in general, and use the themes/images the song lyrics are evoking and honestly, I think this is my favorite translation I’ve done. I guess, overall, this cover means so much to me because it just symbolizes my improvement overall, and it’s something I really wanted to do but have been putting off.

Radical Dreamers wouldn’t be my first pick if I was asked to choose my favourite song from any video game, but this cover is very good. It reminds me of Kate Covington; she was also a talented singer who used to do covers of video-game music.
